Treasures from Our Nest to Yours

If you are visiting us from Southern Hospitality, we want to give a shout out to Rhoda!   We met and became friends while she lived here in Birmingham and she's the reason we are doing what we do.  After 4 years, she finally convinced us to go yard selling with her, so we learned from the best.  We are blessed to know her in person and our lives are richer for it.  We hope you enjoy our blog and will start to follow us too!

We have been hitting the yard sales this spring and boy has it been hot, hot, hot!  Our deals have been just as hot as the weather!  When you're shopping for a purpose, you sure do buy a whole lot more!  So come along and see what we've found!  Visit our booth too at Encore Resales (directions on sidebar).

This is just part of our haul from this spring.  We repurpose for a purpose!  I see some candidates for chalkboards...

We thought you might like to see some before and afters and see how we've repurposed some of our finds.  Believe you me, we've got LOTS more but will save some for later.

BEFORE:  First of all, we took this headboard we found at a junk store for $10 and turned it into a potting station.
AFTER: A potting station that can hold plants, gloves, tools and more - SOLD in 2 days!

BEFORE:  We found this puppet show at a thrift store for $8

AFTER:  Cute Lemonade Stand, lots of willing buyers but we're keeping it to display our store name.  Trying to find a way to duplicate this too!   Twiggy bird sold...

This is our favorite piece so far!  Tiff bought this from her neighbor's sale for $15 and we sold it in 3 days for $129!  We used chalk paint and it turned out gorgeous!

We found these signs at a junk store and all they needed was a little cleaning.  Our kind of find!
This is by far the find of the century... or at least the summer!  We love it!  There's no way we want to change a thing on this beauty.  This would  be a great coffee table.  We both love it but we're willing to part with it for a good price.  This is the "treasure" chest we found that we hope can bring some substantial money to help with the adoption.  If this trunk could talk...

This is the inside of our "treasure" chest.  It has wooden planks, which means it was probably used as a steamer trunk.  A friend said her aunt came over from Italy to Ellis Island with something very similar, but we think it was pulled out of the ocean from the Titanic, or was it filled with pirates' loot - perhaps even Captain Jack Sparrow's...  Nevertheless, this is a rare find indeed... and let the bidding begin!

We have lots more treasures to share with you, so keep coming back!  For our own "peeps", make sure you check out Rhoda's blog, Southern Hospitality. She is a great friend and a fabulous person.  You will love her blog!  This is only our 2nd post so feel free to read our first post and let us introduce ourselves to you.

Blessings,

Debbie & Tiffany

  13. Hi. I popped over from Rhoda's. I really love those vintage signs but live way too far to pop over to your store. Do you plan on doing on-line sales any time soon? If you do, please e-mail me at: stories.scribblesatgmail.com
